The Oak Ridge Enhanced Technology and Training Center (ORETTC) developed a series of immersive tools to integrate digital threads in an effort to optimize training and engineering design functions. To accomplish this task, a digital ecosystem has been created and specific focus has been placed on which connectivity between segments of the ecosystem—data inputs, visualization, process models, and use cases. One example involves users experience in a digital twin glove box manufacturing area with incorporation of XR technologies such as AR/VR and haptic feedback gloves. In this case, users are trained to work with hazardous material in a virtual glove box with the same feel and experience of working in the physical glove box without exposing the worker to hazards.
