Eric Oldrin is an award-winning director telling stories and building experiences with emerging technology.
He grew up playing games like Space Quest and Zork, immersive story worlds that invited participation and ever since, he’s explored ways to make people feel and connect. From animated documentaries to geo-located narratives, alternate reality games to virtual reality worlds, Eric has shaped ideas, broken the internet, and made new friends with visionaries like Tim Burton and David Lynch, studios like Paramount and National Geographic, and platforms like Macromedia and Meta.
For over twenty years, Eric has led innovation across content and entertainment, products and platforms, brands and marketing. As Director of Emerging Platforms at Meta, he drove creative strategy for Meta AI, Quest VR, Spark AR, Instagram, and Messenger and developed experiences with partners like Taco Bell, Fender Guitars, the Paralympics and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. As Managing Director at Digital Kitchen, he led brand experiences for Whole Foods Market, Sierra Nevada Brewing, and more.
Eric recently founded Nirdlo Studio to explore generative AI filmmaking and immersive XR experiences. He continues to collaborate with Meta’s wearables product team on the road to AI/AR glasses, and serves as an advisor to Pereira O'Dell’s Silverside AI Innovation Lab and the wellness platform Auric Aromasphere.
He has been nominated for an Emmy and the Berlin Film Festival. He has won several awards and been featured in the Gernika Peace Museum and the Criterion Collection. His latest film, The Means was selected for the Seattle AI Film Festival.
He lives in the Bay Area with his wife, two kids, two cats, and one very good dog.
