Sofía Sánchez-Zárate

Sofía has spent three years as a software engineer working on Google's AR glasses, focusing on leveraging the intersection of AI+AR. Her work involves integrating Gemini on glasses to create multimodal, heads-up, and hands-free user experiences.

Sofía earned her B.S. from Columbia University as a C.P. Davis Scholar, where she conducted interdisciplinary research in the Computer Graphics and User Interfaces Lab under Professor Steven Feiner. Merging her passion for XR with environmental conservation, she collaborated with polar geophysicists to develop an application for visualizing Antarctic ice shelf data in AR using the Microsoft HoloLens.

Currently based in San Francisco, Sofía enjoys outdoor adventure sports in her free time. She is also an active member of Google's Women@XR organization, contributing to initiatives aimed at advancing and encouraging women in STEM.
